The New DLC is announced by Paradox, and it's about religions :

First diary is about the college of Cardinals and the election of Pope, maybe we'll be able to use this mechanic for the White Council or the 9 Nazguls (as they're 9 Cardinals Wink)

  • Control the Papacy through the College of Cardinals - White Council? *w*
  • Ask the Pope for money and favors - Pope=the head of the council?
  • Play as a Jewish lord and restore the kingdom of Israel - useless
  • Interact with the Holy Orders and see their influence grow - can be useful?
  • Pick sides in Islam as a rationalist Mutazili or an opposing Ashari- what?  Mr. Green
  • Retire troublesome courtiers to a monastery- can help us with elves departure?
  • Go on a pilgrimage to one of the holy places- can be useful?
  • Experience hundreds of new religious events

PS: The first dev diary

  • Interact with the Holy Orders and see their influence grow - can be useful? -> Depends of what we'll do with Holy Orders, Could be interesting with Nazgul for exemple, taking more and more influence
  • Pick sides in Islam as a rationalist Mutazili or an opposing Ashari- what?  Mr. Green
  • Retire troublesome courtiers to a monastery- can help us with elves departure? -> Certainly yes!
  • Go on a pilgrimage to one of the holy places- can be useful? -> Maybe yes, Pilgrimage of dwarves in Moria or Gundabad if they take it
  • Experience hundreds of new religious events

The problem with white council would be the fact that cardinals are randomly chosen among the game characters...i don't think we can have "locked" cardinals/members of white council.

Well if we can mod this DLC, maybe it'll be possible to add a condition for make a new cardinal, this condition should be "hold the "white council" trait!

By the way we won't have to wait too long, the DLC is announced for 18th November.

Looking to the restoration of the Kingdom of Israel, i think it'll be perfect for the reconquest of Moria, Gundabad or Erebor. It seems it'll be some events who'll sends the player to a quest for the restoration, sounds like the Quest for Erebor!

Mechanics of College of cardinals will not work for white council, I've played already.

Retireing characters to a monastery only really makes them unable from gaining a secular title. This dlc will mostly be useless for us as far as I have seen of it.

I found this on paradox forum
Quote:
There's been a lot of questions about mod-friendliness of the College of Cardinals. Yes the whole new feature will be exposed to the scripts. The College of Cardinals isn't in particular tied to the Catholic faith or hard coded in any way but it is a new kind of title added into the game called Religious Title which works pretty much like Minor title, but instead of being a liege who hands it out to his courtiers it is the religious head with the power to hand it to whoever fulfills the Allow trigger in the script. So if you want you could let kings and emperors receive a religious title called Defender of the Faith if you so desire. The whole election system is enabled by a little flag in the title calledcan_elect_head so it isn't required to have that in the title but without it, it is more or less just a minor title with little effect. Also only one religious title per religion can have the election system.
Hope that should be enough for the ones that has been asking about scripting and the new DLC

The cardinals system seems moddable and compatible with our White Council plans

I'm not exactly sure it would fit the white council. The White Council was a select group of powerful individuals that held the greatest knowledge and power. Gandalf, Saruman, Galadriel and Elrond were definite memebers, Radagast, Celeborn, Glorfindel, and Cirdan are all possible members as well. I can't see the the White Council changing any members, and also the fact that it is limited to a specific religion means that all its members have to all be of the same religion.

Obviously we have to wait for its release for a more precise view of how much it is moddable but, do you see any other possible use of this kind of mechanic? Lon suggested 9 cardinals/9 nazgul
