Other thing that should be the cause:
Many province history files are wrong (religion_rhovanion instead of religion = religion_rhovanion), or files who're looking like this when i open them with notepad :

instead of

I noticed those errors. The file I modded are all corrected  Okay
When i find other txt with similar errors I'll fix them

That's weird, in mine it says:

# 119 - c_west_deep

# County Title
title = c_west_deep

b_west_deep = castle
b_west_deepcity = city

religion = religion_haldadian

when I open it with notepad+. Even in regular notepad it looks fine.

But it's a weird thing, also one time I couldn't change the provincial culture, and I couldn't see anything wrong with it. Then when I opened it in notepad+,it was a similar issue to what you're having, that the line was visibly different.

I open all my files in Notepad ++ on my side.
Normally, all the files are good now, i post the corrected ones in my cubby Wink

Yeah, ever since that issue with prov culture change back when I was doign Gondor, I also use Notepad++ exclusively.

Found out a new "important" bug, in the history titles of the royal demesne.

instead of

Yeah, and best to have a fully functional version to work with.

I'm also trying lots of differents things to narrow it down... might not be successful though, as the mod won't run at all without certain folders, so if the critical error is in one of those, then I won't find it.

Could be our defines.lua...

Ours has 991 lines, and the latest CK II version of it has 986.

What's more troubling however (or potentially useful!) is that when we load the mod with the normal latest version of defines.lua, it also crashes to desktop when loading.

You said you had a file-merging program Chris, can you identify what lines are different, and what those 5 lines we have missing in ours are?

Just checked. OUR defines has 5 extra lines. But those are the age lines


NATURAL_DEATH_CHANCE_AGE_110 = 8520,
NATURAL_DEATH_CHANCE_AGE_120 = 8960,
NATURAL_DEATH_CHANCE_AGE_130 = 9160,
NATURAL_DEATH_CHANCE_AGE_150 = 9990,



Our defines: 991 lines
Vanilla defines: 986 lines

Ahhh, ok, but why does the normal CK II defines.lua crash the game when put into our mod?

What lines have we edited in ours, can you see?
