I don't know if you noticed it, but I made a new branch so you could test some modifications for money and prestige.

I tested them and so far I find them quite balanced, but second opinions are always advisable Smile

Cool xD

I'll go forward with the balancing then.

For levies and retinues and the like, do you think I should use the same branch or create a new one? And about troop costs (which you could argue could belong on the money branch or the levies branch...)?

I'd say keep to one branch for simplicity

Ok. Any way to rename the branch? I've searched, but nobody seems to have a solution besides cloning the current branch with a new name and deleting the old one...

I believe that you lower too much the values for prestige and cash but well, that's only my opinion !

For the troop costs, leviers and retinues, what are you planning to do? Because i would like to see a quite identical version, with real differences (strong dwarves, elves, numenoreans, ...)

I think you're underestimating the cash earned by starting buildings and the prestige gain from special traits/items. Or have you already ran a game and that is still your position?

For troops, I'll keep balance according to lore the foremost priority (and I don't think I'll any substantial tweaks in regard to troop quality). However, concessions in regard to fun gameplay will always be considered and discussed with everyone, since it's pointless to have a perfect Middle-Earth Simulator 2015 if the player isn't actually having fun xD

What if you play a poor nation, with no/few starting buildings and no special items?

Yeah, that's the important thing :
special items and buildings are here especially to make the characters/provinces who hold them more wealthy/powerful, and so that's normal to see some characters with more prestige/piety, no? For the other things, we used basically the same values than in vanilla, if i'm good? (I mean, we didn't changed the values of prestige/cash modifier i believe).

For the armies, well, we can always improve them, but i believe that we're going more balanced than before, with the new buildings.

Redit:

Could you provide an example of such a nation that shouldn't be poor?

The poorest guys on Middle-Earth should be: Lossoth, Dunlendings and Druedains. These should be tribes and tribes can raid (though you could argue that Lossoth and Druedains are good guys and shouldn't raid. I dunno...). Besides, I did not nerf tribal holdings, so they should be earning the same money as before...

I think that pretty much any other people should have buildings and therefore they should still be making decent money. Unless we forgot to add them...

Lonhaldar:

As I've argued before, in Middle-Earth, who you are and what you've done matter more than what you have. Guys like Aragorn or Legolas are famous without ruling anything, because of their noble heritage and combat prowess. Conquerors like Azog and Bolg are also revered. A King of Gondor who doesn't do a damn thing, however, is barely remembered...

Therefore, since I only nerfed prestige gained from holding titles, all other contributions to prestige have better visibility and, overall, no one who should be famous gains too little prestige, that I know of....
